Hey, I’m Katie
Nice to meet you!
I’m not one for talking about myself all the time, but my story is what lead me here and maybe my story will resonate with you!
Hey, I’m Katie
I am a teacher, mentor, author, and business owner as well as a proud neurodivergent parent.
I help children and young people grow their confidence, own their strengths, advocate for themselves, and adapt to challenges, all while understanding themselves with love, support, and guidance that works for them.
Together, we embrace differences, feel empowered to learn in ways that suit us, and have a lot of fun along the way!
I first became a teacher back in 2010, long before I truly understood my amazing neurodivergent brain and strengths.
I loved sharing the joy of learning with my students, but over time I realised that many of the children I worked with didn’t share the same love of learning. It took a while to see the world through their eyes, to understand their experiences, and uncover how to help them succeed and thrive at school and beyond.
My own school experience was challenging in ways that weren’t always visible. Beneath top grades and seemingly exemplary behaviour, I often felt different.
Things that came easily to others were hard for me, and when people noticed, they often labelled it as “ditsiness,” “carelessness,” or “laziness” none of which applied.
I masked my ADHD traits for years, until a burnout and mental health crisis during teacher training brought my differences to the surface.
My ADHD wasn’t diagnosed until I was 30, not long after my mum received her own diagnosis. Back then, it was almost unheard of for women and girls to be diagnosed, especially as adults, and many around me were baffled, I wasn’t the hyperactive boy they expected.
Over time, I learned how to advocate for myself, understand my brain, and navigate life with intention.
It took a lot of research, therapy, coaching, and personal growth, but it shaped how I work today.
I also fought to support my students in the UK education system, many of whom were misunderstood or undiagnosed, while learning how to thrive as a neurodivergent teacher myself.
All these experiences led me to my work today, and eventually out of the classroom.
Now, I use my greatest strength, my sensitivity and ability to connect with children, as the foundation of my business.
I help others navigate paths similar to mine, whether that’s building confidence, understanding neurodivergence, or discovering how to learn in ways that work best for them.
What I love…
I love sharing my interests with the children and families I work with, it helps us connect and makes learning more fun.
Some of the things I’m into:
Creative & cultural interests: Films, Disney, Studio Ghibli, musicals, singing, crafting, interiors and seasonal decorating, understanding different cultures and languages (especially Japan, plus French and German), crystals, and “witchy” things
Active & outdoorsy things: Climbing trees, walking, water sports, and anything outdoors when I’m feeling energetic.
(basically all the neurodivergent special interests!)
Sharing these experiences with children and young people helps me connect with them in ways that feel natural, fun, and inspiring, whether it’s through creativity, curiosity, or simply enjoying movement and adventure together.
