A Beautiful Day at Prestwich Clough Day

Our day at Prestwich Clough Day on 17th May was everything I hoped for and more.

Despite surviving an absolute downpour while setting up the marquee, the weather turned around and gave us a glorious day full of lovely families, meaningful conversations, laughter, connection, and so much support for Rise with Katie before we’ve even fully arrived in Prestwich.

Honestly, I came away feeling incredibly grateful.

Our marquee became a little calm and welcoming space where people could pop in for a chat, browse resources, explore children’s colouring activities, learn more about neurodiversity support, and even take a moment in our cosy teepee quiet space when things felt a little overwhelming.

Seeing children instantly gravitate towards the calm corner and watching families visibly relax reminded me exactly why creating inclusive spaces matters so much.

We also had copies of my book available, which sparked some beautiful conversations with parents, carers, and educators navigating their own journeys with autistic and neurodivergent children.

Hearing your stories, sharing experiences, and connecting over the realities of parenting, support, and understanding neurodiversity made the whole day feel incredibly special.

One of my favourite parts of the event was meeting so many amazing local people and organisations. It was wonderful to chat with the lovely teams from Spark Life UK, Boobs Bury, Prestwich Community Choir, Creative Calm Kids, and Prestwich Pride, all of whom are doing brilliant work within the community.

And yes… I also completely fangirled shamelessly when Scottee of Wonkee Manchester popped by and cheered us on too. As someone who genuinely helped get my AuDHD butt moving again, that was a pretty surreal and lovely moment.

The response to Rise with Katie honestly exceeded anything I expected. There was such warmth and encouragement from people who truly understand the importance of inclusive support, safe spaces, and community connection. It made me even more excited for what’s coming next.

For anyone who stopped by the marquee, thank you. Whether you came for a chat, colouring, a breather in the teepee, information about services, or simply to say hello, it meant so much.
